Gull Apple
Dessert / Juicer
Cornwall
Self-Sterile (needs a pollinator)
Mid Harvester – October
A rare apple from Cornwall which can thrive in the harshest seaward garden.
Rediscovered in 1986 by intrepid Tamar Valley couple James Evans & Mary Martin but it wasn’t until a Gentlemen from Fowey called Stuart Young sent in his named sample that ‘Gull’ has been officially found.
A rare apple from Cornwall which can thrive in the harshest seaward garden. Named after the fact the apples look like Gulls eggs (& thus do not roll far the tree) making it also natural talking point in any orchard. This tree is a lot like Cornish Gillyflower in its whippy tendencies & the branches frequently droop down if more than a few apples are on them. Actually, a decent eating apple, be it a tad small.
Like many other Cornish Varieties, this one can also be propagated by ‘pitchers.
