Raised by J. Garland of Broadclyst in Devon. It was soon introduced to the world by the ever-prolific pomologist George Pyne of Topsham & by 1905 it had received an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

 

The fruits are oblong, honey yellow skin with strong red striping, the interior has an almost greenish-white flesh with a faint aromatic flavour.

 

Its progeny being Plymouth Cross & Cheddar Cross.
